Free West Papua Campaign protests Prabowo’s UK visit outside 10 Downing Street

A demonstration was held outside 10 Downing Street and the Indonesian Embassy in London on 19th November 2024 to protest Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s state visit to the UK. 

Protestors from the Free West Papua Campaign and Republic of South Maluku (RMS) drew attention to Prabowo’s long record of human rights violations and complicity in genocide in West Papua, Maluku, and East Timor.  

As ULMWP Interim President Benny Wenda recently stated, since becoming President Prabowo has sent thousands of industrial excavators to destroy 5 million hectares of Papuan forest and thousands of troops to violently put down any resistance, while also restarting the transmigration settlement programme that has made Papuans a minority in their own land.
